It’s that time of year again. We have been lucky enough that our Sun Conures have produced two lovely little chicks. Not to mention we have two unexpected Indian Ringnecks from a young Yellow and Blue Indian Ringneck pairing.
Over the last two years, we have reduced the number of hand-tamed birds bred and raised by us. Largely due to the time required to do so at a high level of husbandry and care, it really is like looking after children. The plus side? The birds we are doing come out 11|10. Quality over quantity. That doesn’t mean we won’t have many feathery friends looking for homes. We are still working closely with several reputable bird keepers. People we trust to do 11|10 work.
It will still be some weeks (we estimate at least 6) before we start to see hand-tame birds ready for new homes. Expressions of interest are welcome, but please note we do not “hold” or “pre-sell”. Our hand-tame birds are also strictly only for sale once fully weaned and independent.
In the meantime, we will be feeding these little ones four times a day, ensuring their food is at the right temperature (this is very important) and using a combination of a spoon (preferred) and crop needle (we find this safeguards us in emergencies). Not to mention regular weight checks to make sure everything is on track/ as it should be.
