Questions?

A rabbit’s diet should consist primarily of good-quality hay (75%), premium rabbit pellets (20%), and treats and greens (5%). Fresh water must be available at all times. Hay supports digestive health and helps wear down teeth, so it should make up the bulk of your rabbit’s daily diet.

Yes. Rabbits need a spacious, secure enclosure with enough room to hop, stretch and stand upright. They also benefit from hiding spaces, chew toys and regular supervised time outside their enclosure for exercise and mental stimulation.

We like to think of this as a “bedroom and house” setup — the cage acts as their sleeping and feeding area, while a larger run, enclosure extension or dedicated rabbit-safe space provides room to move, explore and play.

Rats are omnivores and enjoy a mix of high grade pellets or blocks, fresh vegetables and occasional fruit and treats. Avoid feeding sugary, salty or sticky foods, as well as chocolate, raw beans, and citrus fruits, which can cause digestive problems.

Yes, rats are highly social animals and do best when kept in same-sex pairs or small groups. A single rat can become lonely and bored, so having one or more companions improves wellbeing and reduces stress-related behaviours.

Yes. Unlike many animals, guinea pigs cannot produce their own vitamin C, so it must be provided through their diet. In store, we recommend and use Vetafarm Cavy Origins, which is formulated to help meet their daily vitamin C requirements.

Fresh vegetables that are high in vitamin C, such as capsicum and leafy greens, also help support healthy levels when offered regularly as part of a balanced diet.

Guinea pig enclosures should be spot-cleaned daily and given a full clean at least once a week. Regular cleaning helps prevent odours, bacterial build-up and respiratory issues, keeping your guinea pigs healthy and comfortable.
